    Improved Combat Uniform

I wore them in the Brits up to about 83.....when high leg boots became the norm...although before that we had high leg boots for Northern Ireland...and many bought their own high leg boots and were allowed to wear them .... dropping puttees unless required for a parade etc... I have always...

Discussion About Maroon Berets? split- more infantry work. Artillery or Armored

More waffle....please make it stop.... Same as the comments eluding to RSMs (and COs) or lone soldiers for that matter doing their own thing without the sanction of the CoC (not that you MCG added to the latter)....laughable at best. The only 'signs" I care about are that this is...

    Foreign Exchange programs??

With regard to the Reserve aspect, the Reserve Training link details a reciprocal training policy that allows a reservist studying or working overseas to continue their reserve participation in a sanctioned manner.  It is not an exchange program nor are members seconded (on loan).  I met a young...

Discussion About Maroon Berets? split- more infantry work. Artillery or Armored

Not from a 2 CER source but from someone with some knowledge of this matter... "2 CER has, or is in the process of building a troops worth of jumpers.  2 Bde is going with an "enhanced" jump company based around M Coy of 3 RCR.  They will be however on Cas Para only for now but have all the...

Discussion About Maroon Berets? split- more infantry work. Artillery or Armored

After the disbandment the Airborne Engineer Platoon became part of the Airborne Holding Unit and then for a couple of months under what was called the '3 Cdo Coy Gp.'  After the first airborne exercise (a raid on Camp Argonaught in Gagetown - Ex LETHAL REACH) in June 1995 we moved to 2 CER.  15...

    Knotty Knots

It can be used to join any diameter rope/cordage in situations where a load is applied...even if great a load is applied it can be easily undone.  Large hawser type stuff, once the knot  is tied, the running end is seized against the standing end and the knot maintains its classic shape....and...

ISAF HQ...true (generally no weapons carried by staff on the HQ)  CSTC-A as it was, weapons were carried, at all times. Interesting point raised earlier on the pay difference...between Kabul and Kanadahar...will have to look into that....first I have heard of it.

The Canadian Airborne Regiment, 1968-1995 (merged)

I will say this... I too served in the post Somalia Airborne Regiment....and echoing what has been said by many, the unit that was disbanded under the leadership of LCol Peter Kenward was not the unit of the Somalia debacle. I continue to serve, now in my 33rd year....but I still have trouble...

The Optimal Battle Group vs. the Affiliated Battle Group

At this time, the report offers two options to conclude the 2 RCR BG 2021 aspects of the study. In short wrap things up this APS (Option 1 - Completion and Disbandment APS 11) or a gradual 'wind-down' completing the process by APS 2012 (Option 2 - Reduction and Completion APS 2012).  Option...
