Anyone else having trouble with The Personal Insurance company?

We recently were posted and our house we purchased had only 60 amp service.  We have been dealing with The Personal for over three years now with no claims.  They told us they would not insure our new house unless we upgraded to 100 amp.  We upgraded and they asked for proof of the upgrade.  So...

Need computer for RMC courses but have no $

Thanks everyone for the kind offers and good advice.  My computer problem has been solved.  The learning centre loaned me a laptop for the duration of my course. Thanks again! DME

Need computer for RMC courses but have no $

The Canex at the base I am posted to is being closed down shortly and we are too busy buying a house, etc. to quickly purchase a computer from the Canex on the no interest loan thing.   And we can't afford to purchase a computer right now out of pocket. SISIP emergency loan isn't available to...

5000 regular force over 5 years..... just a little question about that

Thats a pretty good ratio actually.  RCMP recruiting numbers are much lower than that.  If you post any job you get a lot of unqualified applicants, not just a few, a LOT.  I don't see all this complaining going on about "STUPID" applicants as being justified, especially on a public forum.

    Got the CALL

RCMP system works a lot faster than the CF.  10 times as fast. Police Officers come from all walks of life.  Recruiters I spoke with like people with "life experience", so you do get trades people, teachers, even lawyers who are now police officers. DME

5000 regular force over 5 years..... just a little question about that

Haven't they been promising "an additional 5000" for the past few years?   Hasn't happened yet and doubt it will happen this year, unfortunately. DME

    Enrolled today

Hot Dog!! I am finally enrolled in Reg. Force! Three years and 11 months of sheer stress CT'ing from Reserves.  Persistence has paid off, hallelujah!  ED. Tech, Air Force. Good luck for everyone waiting, here's hoping your time will come soon. DME

Entering the CF and YOUR Money....

My wife and I use our credit cards for anything and everything - but we don't use it for anything frivilous.  We pay off our credit card every month - we have had it for over two years and haven't paid one penny in interest.  We receive over $500/yr in travel credit (not air miles) we can use...

    Pay Increase

I am very thankful for the raise, although I have never complained of being underpaid in the CF.   Yes, we do put ourselves at more risk than our civy counterparts, but you have to look further than just the paycheque.   I am going to make at least 20K less in the military than I do in my civy...

    Are you an Army.ca addict?

This site is so addictive.   I'm happy that we don't own a computer at home, or I'd do nothing other than sit on my duff all evening.   My wife would disown me!   Right now we just borrow the neighbours laptop (along with his wireless connection - can you say SWEET!) a few times a month.   But...

    Military ID Card Pics

My temporary reserve ID actually says "MAN" vs Member or Regular NCM.  It sounds like its not universal?  Kinda surprising to me. DME

    Reserve Force Retirement Gratuity

Hi Gunner, Thanks for the info.  Great links, I'm going to read over them today and from what I can see briefly, they will give me a lot of information.  I was mistaken, it was the DAPPP I spoke with, not the Pension Corp.  The lady I spoke with answered my questions, but so vaguely it seemed...

    Reserve Force Retirement Gratuity

I have a large chunk of cash coming from the Reserve Gratuity.  I'm CTíng to Reg. Force and was advised to place it into an RRSP for the time being, then transfer it over to a pension buy back.  HOWEVER I was told by the Pensions Corp. that I have to be careful what I put it into (within the...

    Any ED Techs out there??

QL3 is about six months long, QL5 is about six months long.  Both are in Gagetown unless they are outsourced.  For instance there is a course running in Halifax right now that is outsourced.  Not sure if "outsourced" is the correct term, but you get the idea.

    Military wedding in Winnipeg

Hey if anyone's interested (no I'm not asking you to marry me) the chapel at 17 apparently is pretty nice - stained glass and everything.   Someone from here just sent me photos and I think its pretty swell, and my gal is pretty excited about how nice it looks.    So I don't knock anyone for...

Thank you letter to helpful recruiter

Thanks Love, thats what I was thinking of doing so I'm glad you suggested it.  I see from your profile you should know, so thanks :) CFN I don't want to post details, I was just looking for the proper way to send a thank you letter to a recruiter.  More the proper process than names of people. ...

Entering the CF and YOUR Money....

Thanks for the heads up on renting out the old place.  You're actually the first person who said the banks are very picky about this, what bank did you deal with, out of curiousity?  It does make sense about them being picky though as they need to look after themselves.  I wonder if it has to do...

    Military wedding in Winnipeg

CFL you'll have to clarify who you are speaking to in your message. I have questions specific to 17 Wing and its ammenities, but thanks for the offer GIJANE.  How was Shilo?  I've heard Trenton's quite nice, and that was my second choice for posting so that is where we may have ended up...
