I would like to see the CAF training plan to get all reg force officers and WOs or higher to BBB in the next 5 years while also expanding the force structures and integrating all the new equipment that all the services are bringing on line.
It’s got to be one heck of an amazing plan.

As per google this is the federal government employee provincial breakdown as well.
These are the Cdn statistics on Bilingualism.
9.5% of Cdns outside of Quebec are bilingual.

Interesting article especially the dollar values being used as a planning figure to clothe and equip soldiers.
$1850 for clothing and $6000 for equipment.
It’s an interesting number that might speak to several things...
Fair enough. The Army will have very little static for a while.
I remain uninformed of where the personnel for these IAMD elements will come from. Some questions in my mind that I suppose the IAMD cell will have to answer in time.
Is the CAF creating a new RCAF trade? A separate Army air...
I don’t disagree about the current army. However in addition to the NORAD dedicated IAMD elements (least I believe they are NORAD dedicated?) the Army will have air defence elements that will need to tie into the IADS.
Additionally the Army Bdes and really the new manoeuvre division will need...
In this case, the training specific to their medical qualifications so as to maintain currency and proficiency in their scope of practice.
Done either through training or actual employment at medical facilities where that scope of practice can be done for real. Think surgeons actually doing...
I am speculating to a degree but I don’t see that changing just because of CJFC.
Does the ship own responsibility for medical continuation Trg (not sure what it’s called) for its medical staff? Or is that overseen by an associated CF Health Svcs unit?
In a Task group with a JSS, where does...
Looking at it from a unit perspective of any element it likely won’t be noticeable. CF Health Svc will continue to fill CFTPO bricks.
I think again it should be understood from a higher level, Bde, Division, L1 to L1etc.
Specialist elements will always continue to get worked up independently...
The other interesting organizations are the CJOC units and formations that it’s responsible for both force generating and employing.
You might be right, I think the NSE concept needs to be grown into a full fledged joint theatre sustainment command capability.
How does the CAF plan to support...
Not sure what you mean here in relation to this?
Couple thoughts.
1. I think the CAF had a decision to make on this issue. Either cut all purple stuff back to the respective elements or group them under a new thing to make force generation vs force mgmt clearer.
2. At an individual CFTPO fill...
Health Services and MPs are two prime examples.
I suspect that CJFC would own the FD and Cap Dev for the purple elements the same as the others do for their domains.
The Joint Force doctrine and Joint Force Development fitted into CJFC is weird as in this case they actually mean Joint NOT...
To me this makes sense, an interesting component though is that there have been many instances identifying that the CAF is weak at thinking, planning and conducting Joint Operations integrating all domains into linked tactical activities aimed at a single operational objective.
Because this new...
If you understand “Joint” in the CJFC to be NOT Army, Air Force, Navy, SOF and think of it as “Purple”, your likely further along.
It will likely help force generation but its impact on the CAF being able to think and execute Joint operations will likely be minimal.
I don’t get why IAMD...
Interesting thing is by prioritizing “operations” and “readiness” what is actually being prioritized is routine peacetime operations.
If you think that Major Combat Operations are going to breakout in the next 5 years, prioritizing peacetime operations over modernization will result in your...
In general terms the next 10 years are going to see major changes across all our elements, equipment and organization.
Leadership keeps saying that maintaining operations is the main effort but that’s going to run into a hard reality.
Operations may have to take a backseat to modernization for...

A good article on the relationship between Parliament and the CAF, with the GoC and DND in the middle.
It’s a fundamental problem in our culture amongst all the players.
An interesting item is that if we are serious about building out Cdn industry we can’t do projects like that.
We can’t have competitions open to all. We need to invest in and develop the industry. It would mean not doing a fly off for the next fighter lead in etc. it would mean we need to...
