I love reading about the raising of regiments in the late 18th and early 19th centuries...it seemed all a man needed was a title, money and the backing of a politician and *poof* instant CO!
I've happened on another great source of historical docs - all public domain - that allows you to download scans of the original books.
enjoy.

(I've started the search for you.... ;))
Thanks...tried that. The Unit said, "We don't have any positions for you, but we'd be glad to have you. Stop us having to backload equipment all the time." I'm not sure if that's going to be ggod or not.
Just to put a different spin on this thread, I've been out of the Regs for going on 5 yrs and now am looking at getting back into the Reserves. I'm doing it for all the good things you have all mentioned - which, I can tell you - simply aren't out on civvie street.

I did some initial poking around by calling the Recruiting Office, they told me it shouldn't matter as long as I can pass the medical testing. The actual restrictions aren't really the issue; as it was explained to me the CO of whatever unit I choose to join would have to decide if he wanted to...
I'm looking at getting back into the Reserves. While I was in the Regs I was an FCS tech and there were no positions for the Reserves but I understand there are now EO Tech Reserve positions. Has anyone any info on this? How do I find which Units support this trade?
Thanks
When I joined in 90' it was less than 3 weeks before I wrote my test in the Recruiting office and found myself in Cornwallis. One minute dumbass civvie, baffled recruit the next.
Hopefully, things are quick this time as well.
Hi all,
I'm looking at joining the Reserves as a Class "A" after four (boring) years as a civvie. I was Reg for 11 1/2 years till I toasted my ankle and got punted 3b. I'm having trouble finding much detailed info on my obligations - QR&O 9.06 if pretty vague.
I'm also wondering if anyone has...
