High Speed Train Coming?-split from boosting Canada’s military spending"

Laval makes sense to me because they are going through there. Just like a second GTA station would make sense. I wish they went through Dorval and integrated with the airport. Would have been amazing for Ottawa residents to access flights at Dorval in 45 mins. Too bad Montreal-Quebec City...

Funny how $60-90B is suddenly not enough..... Seems enough for every major international rail developer in the world to bid. Except your employer. That says something.

The surest way to failure is to add more stops. 10 mins for a stop in Perth might add 10 riders and cost 50 in Toronto. This is exactly why I'm glad it's a private developer and not a fully government run project. Only way to maintain that discipline.

The privatization of British Rail would like to say hi.

It was an open bid. Humphrey should ask his employer why they didn't put in a bid if they are supposedly so well positioned for it. I don't think CN or CP even joined any of the consortiums. But Air Canada joined Cadence and is on the winning team.

Nah. You ran mostly commuter railroads. And squeezed in some medium haul passenger service and long distance tourist trains between freight trains. You're actually the reason VIA sucks. Nice try at retcon. Heck, all our pension funds love buying infrastructure built by governments. So...

100%. And the Harper experience in Belleville proves it. I think Humphrey just wants his cut.

That contract was cancelled actually. And DB lost the bid for Alto to. Cadence is SNCF.

Complains about VIA. And then when outside talent is brought in, complains about that. Can't win. VIA doesn't have the expertise to do something this big. And the freight cos have exactly zero experience building passenger rail, let alone HSR.

They literally created a completely separate agency from VIA and brought in foreign multinationals to design and build this. Every bid team had a major HSR builder from their country. Renfe from Spain. SNCF from France. Deutsche Bahn from Germany. And JR from Japan. It was one of the most...

They never talk about what those exports mean domestically: higher prices are the pump. Just like LNG exports closing the gap between domestic NG prices and higher global prices. This is great for the O&G companies. Not so much for the domestic consumer. The US turning on Ukraine and the...

Didn't realize that Pearson airport and the 401 were built to payback political donations. It was well before my time. Can you explain who was being paid back?

Where does LNG Canada get the gobs of electricity it needs and what was done to provide that?

No it isn't. What does comfort have to do with anything? Here's a hint. Why do governments build airports, roads and subways?

They refurbished a terminal they were using. The majority of funding was from the airport authority including all the important infrastructure like the tunnel and the ferry. Most importantly, the airport itself would have never existed without the taxpayer building it. There's no way Porter...

I haven't seen any airlines fund airport construction well before they start flying.
