TKMS Type 212CD (Victoria class replacement megathread)

Interesting write up in CDAI on submarine force development, and some of the challenges around ramping up to 12 subs. https://cdainstitute.ca/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Force-Dev-subs-v.3.pdf

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

Nope. Northrop-Grumman. It appears this is related to the new APG-85, which I'm not even sure Canada is getting in the first 16 (if ever). https://www.twz.com/air/are-f-35s-being-delivered-to-the-usaf-without-radars-sure-seems-like-it The problem appears to be that the bracket/bulkhead being...

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

By all accounts the F35 performed flawlessly in cold arctic conditions: https://www.armyrecognition.com/news/aerospace-news/2026/danish-f-35a-fighter-jets-demonstrate-arctic-combat-capability-in-extreme-cold-norad-operations

TKMS Type 212CD (Victoria class replacement megathread)

That's under active discussion, with KSS-III rumoured to be in the mix. https://navalinstitute.com.au/an-alternative-aukus-path/ https://www.australiandefence.com.au/defence/sea/submarine-proposal-still-stands-hanwha...

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

    Yes, I saw that. The "rumour" is 120 - 40 F35s, and 80 Gripens. https://nationalpost.com/opinion/john-ivison-sources-say-ottawa-considering-swedish-jets-over-f-35s-for-half-of-fleet

    Future Helicopters

I understand that there are obsolescence issues, of course, which presumably the ISS is capable of dealing with. I would like to know how many parts on the Cyclone are truly unique, given this machine was the baseline from which the new presidential VH-92 was developed, if my understanding is...

    Future Helicopters

Understood. Thanks. I was merely advocating for a separate agreement, outside the terms of the current ISS, which appears to penalize Sikorsky for some things that are not entirely within their influence. Ultimately, this comes down to if the government feels this platform is worth salvaging...

    Future Helicopters

Very well put. I made a similar argument in an earlier post. Negotiate with Sikorsky on an "Extended Warranty", whereby we pay a certain amount yearly for access to parts. Commit to a minimum 10 year time frame, with renewal options. That makes it worth their while to produce and stockpile...

    Continental Defence Corvette

Interesting to see most of the expected/desired capabilities of the CDC in the French FDI class: https://www.navylookout.com/in-focus-the-fdi-frances-mid-size-frigate/ Makes me dubious we'll be able to fit this into a 2500T/105m length hull...

    Canadian River Class Destroyer Megathread

True, but at this point, it's the only official source of information (if we rule out Wikipedia, which, incidentally, also indicates the main gun is the Leonardo). I have yet to see anything other that idle chatter on this site indicating a switch back to the BAE gun. Not saying it isn't true...

    Canadian River Class Destroyer Megathread

Someone forgot to tell DND - it's still listed in the fact sheet as the Leonardo... https://www.canada.ca/en/navy/corporate/fleet-units/surface/river-class-destroyer/fact-sheet.html

    Continental Defence Corvette

That was my kinda my understanding, though slightly different number for batch 2: Initial 3, batch 2 would be 6, and batch 3 would be 6, each batch incorporating improvements over the previous batch(es).

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

Under more normal conditions (non-Trump administration) I'd agree. However, given the F35 is the clearly superior airplane, and won the competition already once against the Gripen, on all criteria from my understanding, even if the Americans choose to exercise the ITAR restriction on those...
