    FSP RMC Exchange

Hmmm... I was just always told you had to be TD or FSP. I guess some exception must have been made somehow.  Anyway, not looking to start an audit for something that happened three years ago, more just a question that comes up when people ask me about. Thank you!

    FSP RMC Exchange

Wondered if there was someone out there with an answer to a complex FSP question. When I was in my 3rd at RMC I did a semester exchange to the US Air Force Academy. While I was there I do not remember receiving either TD or FSP (ie my NCdt pay did not double). Wondering if anyone has an idea of...

    Regular Officer Training Plan (ROTP)-RMC 2000 - 2018 [Merged]

It's 2013, it's assumed you have a cellphone.  Pay phones are also available and not usually controlled by your staff during FYOP.

Boot cleaning / polishing / care of

This is a question that has come up a hundred times at RMC: "do you polish sea boots?"  All the NCdts who go to NETPO and get their sea boots are told by the supply tech: "don't polish them, they don't require any maintenance".  Yet when they return to RMC with worn boots or dirty boots they are...

27 Aug 12: LGEN Thomas Lawson named C.D.S.

All the non-military readers who have seen Top Gun?

27 Aug 12: LGEN Thomas Lawson named C.D.S.

At the LCol level he was considering calling it quits, getting his PhD and settling down as an electrical engineering professor.  Some people convinced him to give being a general officer a shot and looks like the decision served him well. He is still a legend at RMC and I'm sure will be a...

Who'll be the next CDS? Speculation here, please!!

I would put safe money on VAdm Donaldson considering the other two "front runners" have only been in their new posts for a year.  I think the next go around will be incredibly interesting (LGen Beare, LGen Lawson, MGen Day, and MGen Vance among others all being very strong candidates).

    Wearing American Jump Wings

Thank you, I obviously got a bit lost in the thread. That was pretty much the answer I expected, just wanted to make sure.

    Wearing American Jump Wings

Just to be clear, these wings are worn by active-duty USAF members. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/8f/Air_Force_Lt._Gen._Michael_C._Gould.jpg/275px-Air_Force_Lt._Gen._Michael_C._Gould.jpg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Norton_A_Schwartz_2008_2.jpg By Cadet they mean...

    Wearing American Jump Wings

Thanks for the help.  I received the wings while on exchange at the US Air Force Academy.  These are the jump wings that almost all the USAFA grads wear.  They are the same wings as you get at Fort Benning, but it is not the same course.  The course I took is five freefall jumps with no airborne...

    Wearing American Jump Wings

Today I received USAF jump wings, but I'm confused as to wear on my Canadian uniform I am supposed to wear them. The problem is that in the Dress Regulations there are two paragraphs that appear to describe identical situations with different procedures. (I won't post it here for the sake of...

Flight suits for non-Air Force personnel

Anybody know what headdress non-Air Force personnel (ex. Navy nurses working in Griffons or previously Tactical Helicopter Observers) wear?

    Questions about MP vs MPO

To the OP, there is a difference between MP and MP Officer.  I think you mean MP when you say MP Officer as they are more like a traditional police officer whereas MPOs manage MPs.  Police Foundations would be suited to becoming an MP, to become an MP Officer you will need an undergraduate degree.

    Kilts and pants?

On the topic of mess kit, I recently saw a naval officer wearing a mess dress and a kilt.  Assuming that's allowed, is there a specific navy tartan (like RCAF tartan) or is it up to the wearer?

    Musicians in Reserves

Also many bands will have small groups within the band such as a jazz quartet or mess dinner band.  (The professional "reg force" band at the US Naval Academy even has a rock band).

    Musicians in Reserves

As well as the Band of the Royal Military College in Kingston.  Also, if you just want to play for fun, most reserve bands allow "associate members".  The 5th Field, for example, has a few reg force members of other trades as well as a handful of CIC Band Officers from local units.  Usually...

    Musicians in Reserves

www.5fieldband.ca This is for the 5th Field Artillery Band in Victoria.  If you look at the Recruiting FAQ under "Joining the Band" you can get some answers.  Also if you Google the band you are interested in, many of them have a website. Best of luck, from what I hear, being a musician...

Why you chose to attend RMC?

I'm not sure I agree with this 100%.  Note that I don't have any experience, but I would hardly call Civvy U a "real university experience".  I mean outside of having to find your a place to live and food to eat (although in a "real university experience" both are provided by the school for a...

Why you chose to attend RMC?

I chose RMC because I thought that if I'm going to commit myself, I might as well go the whole nine yards.  That and Civi U people have to deal with annoying things like University Liasion Officers, Weekend Leave Passes, and an extra four weeks of BMOQ.
