It's not a matter of being proud of being on WFT, it is of what I accomplished during my time on WFT.
I failed at something. It happens. I'd love to meet the professional soldier who is good at absolutely everything, and has never needed a hand. All WFT is, is a helping hand for those who...
Warriors come into a new platoon having completed casualty drags, ruck marches, trench digs, topo classes, and watermanship exercises to name a few.
The instructors are not present 24/7 to help every last recruit. The night before a march, who do you think is helping the members of a platoon...
I will be the first to admit that I did not know how to work out properly before basic. PT has never come easily to me, but I have been given the tools to work on this deficiency.
Having said this, I did not spend my last few months as a civilian bumming around playing video games - I built up...
That may be true, and I don't believe that is the candidate's fault as much as the recruitment process. Personally, I trained for 5months before heading to BMQ, and it still wasn't enough to pass the minimum standards. Fitness comes easy to some, and not to others. Warrior and AWT are support...
As a former warrior candidate, I just want to let you know that the program is not going away, and is by no stretch of the imagination a waste of money for the CF. 4 out of 5 candidates that enter Warrior Platoon are successful graduates of CFLRS.
Looks like we have the whole weekend to stare at the ceiling and wonder what we got ourselves into :P
I'm 3/4 packed already... just had to go out and buy an iron! Anyone else packed yet?
Your interviewer will likely explain the process after you have completed the interview. That is where I obtained the best knowledge of how my file was to be processed, and how the merit list works.
I was told my local CFRC didn't have the final say in terms of a job offer.
Edited to add info.
I don't see anything on this link about merit listing. Only final offers.
And, correct me if I'm wrong, but (1200 + 1600 + 950 + 1200 + 3800) / 13500 = 64.8%
I don't see where you're getting this third of 30,000. There's only 4,000 positions per year from what I understand.
So according to...
30,000 applicants in RegF and PRes. The article wasn't specific enough about Officers vs NCM. And yes, a number of those applicants will likely not be competitive enough.
This was posted somewhere else on this forum: http://www.forces.gc.ca/site/tml/article-eng.asp?id=28&y=2013&m=06
I agree...
IMO, that's still a pretty competitive trade. I've seen stats that say that the CF receive over 30,000 applications each year. If they have 120 openings for infantry, your (basic) odds are 120/30,000 (or 0.4%).
Edited: basic Math fail.
I'm new here, but what I learned quickly is that there is a lot of competition for positions in the CF. What's more, there are some trades that are more competitive than others - Infantry among them.
I'll be surprised if you don't get a warning for a comment like that.
