1985 Canadian Dog Tags

Looking for any information regarding the ID Discs or dog tags from 1985 / 1985 to 1989. What were they made of, where they stamped or engraved, size of letterings, and any id where to look for exact copies?

Mine issued in 88 were same a the ones I had on release in 16 except 88 were aluminium and my last two pairs were steel. Oh, and 88 had SIN not SN.

I think the Al one were stamped, not sure about the steel ones.

Mine are from 84. They are punch stamped Aluminum.

I can attest to that. I had them destroyed because I considered them an identity thread risk due to the SIN

From what I’ve seen, those mid-80s Canadian dog tags were usually made of aluminum, and the info was stamped (not engraved). The letters are about 3 mm tall.
