I can't get an official answer from anyone concerning postings, which of course doesn't surprise me ... however, I thought someone here might have been in my position recently and have some experience to offer.

In short I've been told that my wife won't be moved with me until I'm finished all my training (which should be about January 2006). This means I'm going to be separated from my wife for over 2 1/2 years (unless I pay for my own move) ... is that unheard of, or even possible?

I'm a Signals Officer, who just finished Basic, and I'm now doing 8 months of French. Currently, I'm scheduled for CAP in September, then various signals courses finishing in December 2005.

I‘ll be in Kingston for about a year an a half which to me would seem like a fine time for them to move my wife, but I don‘t know if they feel the same.

Thank you for any information or advice.

I‘m in the same position (well almost...) I‘m just flying her down to see me in Kingston while I"m there lots ( I‘m doing SigOps) for 6 months there. If you had kids that wouldn‘t be feasible but if you don‘t..that could work out.

I don‘t really know what to tell you about this: I suggest you talk to your supervisor/instructor as soon as you can, and get his advice. A well placed memo or two to follow up, and you will get an answer one way or the other.
