OK, I'm heading out to chilliwack in 2 days, i just have 2 questions.  Since I'm travelling alone do I wear my combats when I'm on the bus? or do i just show up at the gate in my civilian clothes?

And anyone else have to pay for transportation to BMQ and then fill out forms to be reimbursed? It stinks cause I had to get my dad to loan me money so I could go.

Yeah I had to pay about 50 bucks for transportation to Chilliwack. Gotta love the reimbursement though.

Im taking greyhound from vancouver, I just dont know what to wear there... combats or civilain clothes
im thinking of taking either the 8:00 bus, or the 10:00

Phft. I have to wake up at 4 in the morning. That's normally the time I'm getting into bed.

I'm wearing my civvies.. I'd say that is what we need to wear, considering we don't yet know how to properly wear our uniforms.

Thanks, I guess ill be wearing my civvies too.

now to pack everything into that duffel bag...  going to take awhile

I was lucky enough to have my webbing and ruck put together for me so I just need to fold all my shit and put it in.

They kinda showed me how to put it together, so i did it myself. Only problem is my ruck has 2 extra straps that i dont know where to put on.  So Im only going to use it if I have no room.  Im hoping that my webbing is done properly tho, cause it was a bit of a pain trying to look at pictures of where pouches go.

agree... like the buttpack... I have no idea how to use the straps

but what I think is... u can wear ur civilian clothes during on transpotation because they don't think u know how to wear ur uniform before bmq

If your taking a civvie transport, go in civvies.

When I went on my basic, my unit supplied the ride, so I had to be in combats.

Yot, don't worry about the strap on the buttpack, tuck it in on the bottem. You only use the strap if you want to carry the buttpack like a purse(or whatever), I've never seen anyone do it though. For course, your always be wearing it on the belt.

Well, from what I've read in the past... the reimbursment takes a few months  :-X

crap, guess at least i will have the pay checks to balance it all out. Either way wouldn't miss it for anything.

The time it takes for a claim all depends on your unit, I've never waited longer than 3 weeks to get my money back. IRP is extremely quick, but that's only for reg force postings, I was taking in receipts and I had the money in my account within days.  The big thing is to be calm and cool when talking to a clerk, they're just like everybody else and when someone starts flipping tables over a $50 claim, they tend to zone out and "get to it when they get to it". Also, learn from your experience, if it takes months to get a claim back when you go certain places, get an advance, they can advance you up to 90% I think.

Cheers
