I for one will not watch this if it’s actually going to happen. Its barbaric and seems typical of this administration.
This criminal should be incarcerated forever.

can’t quite remember the case from law school, but I distinctly remember the lesson. The purpose of hanging a horse thief in the town square isn’t to serve as punishment, it’s to publicly deter the theft of horses. Until somebody decided that type of theft can be both an insured loss and an offence punishable by incarceration, and thus not much need for fatal deterrence.
As you and I both know, there’s no replacement for losing our offspring. For crimes like this there must be meaningful and effective deterrence in the public square. I’m undecided if this particular instance will serve any effective purpose at all given the passage of time and the rotten people who have gleefully taken this decision. It might be different I suppose if the police on scene had promptly finished the job right there and then or if the flash to band speed of justice moved much more swiftly. I suppose that’s the lesson. He deserves death, a slow one in a rotten prison cell after all these years is the better option right now.

Surely you are not advocating for law enforcement to be judge, jury and executioner.

The murder rate of capital vs non-capital punishment US states suggests that it's not much of a deterrent. Maybe if they killed more and faster it might be.
