2025 U.S. - Venezuela conflict

It’s fascinating reading you all condemn the US and support the dictator Maduro who stole power and ruined a country.
Like clock work you offer nothing but adversarial content when the adults are talking.

Who here has condemned the US?

The questions of legality, the larger context and motivations for all of this and what might come next are all valid.

Sounds like Trump listened to the right people on this and used his SOF surgically. That decision took a lot of political courage.

I cant wait to read the details about this raid in 3-5 yrs. Amazing job by the US forces involved.

I wonder if the leadership is actually on board with that lol.

It seems that the leadership goes well beyond Maduro in Venezuela.

I take that to mean they'll try and install a US friendly government. Who know what that looks like long term. The gun boat diplomacy era saw long term Carribean counter insurgency by the US, this could be the same.

Nah keep going. Many of you start this off with: “he’s kidnapping!” “He’s crazy!” “This is illegal!”.. if only poor Maduro was left alone.

I do find it fascinating reading the reactions that always start from a position of deep hatred and negativity towards anything US and especially so because of Trump.

It will be neat to re-read the evolution of posts in this thread with all the speculation and actual outcomes in the coming months and years.

Oh that is the goal to be sure.

But I think that the Venezuelan regime is more than just maduro. Apparently he might just be the broker of several different parts.

Pretty sure they’ll make it legal.

Current theory based on his tweets using certain language is that they will frame this as a law enforcement action.
Nicolas Maduro has been charged with Narco-Terrorism Conspiracy, Cocaine Importation Conspiracy, Possession of Machineguns and Destructive Devices, and Conspiracy to Possess Machineguns and Destructive Devices against the United States

Funny how there are no Fentanyl specific charges. And I am curious as to what weapon possesion charges can be used against leaders of sovereign states

100%
The US now has direct access to the world’s largest oil reserves.
The kind that Texas gulf refineries just love.
People need to realize that a new pipeline or 3 to the coasts has become a ‘need to have’ not a ‘like to have.’

I think our position in any negotiations with the USA, for anything, were just weakened, badly.

I see this as a move where the USA is truly broadcasting they have no need for us.

Machado probably.

Nice try. Questioning the legality is fair. Who said crazy? Who said he should be left alone. Do better and try to participate normally instead of lashing out like you do.

You really need to re read this thread and not take this so personally when someone criticizes your man. You are not even arguing a position other than “leave Trump alone”.

It’s neat to watch it now and re-read your stuff. At least you aren’t spouting the silly no new wars garbage you were fond of back then.

Hence the need to just move away as much as we can from them. Keep diversifying.

Alberta is about to become a failed petrol state. They certainly won’t need that oil.

Do we have the stomach for that ? Or will we just keep trying to press the easy button ?

Alberta's financial fortunes just became less clear (Sunny), unless we can move their product offshore.

And if Alberta's financial fortunes are in jeopardy Canada's is too.

Alberta sovereignty falls apart in a referendum when the population of Ft Mcleod learns that Alberta is actually a largely urban province.

How is this even legal

Chile 1974 is calling: Chile got Pinochet - a ruthless dictator.

I THINK the US courts don't care how the accused got into the USA - only that their rights were not breached WITHIN the USA.

I could be wrong - probably am

I'd be interested to hear how they intend to charge him with possession of machine guns in Venezuela.
