What exactly is a "Gunner"?  Is it the same as a bombardier?  I am doing family research and I always thought my uncle was a "Bombardier" - I have a record that shows him as a Gunner with the 2nd Canadian Division, 6th Field Regiment.  My uncle was killed on July 21, 1994 in Normandy.

Well the first representation of a gunner is anyone that works on or for the guns.
But a more accurate would be the equivalent of a Private in the infantry. A gunner has one hook. A bombardier has 2 hooks and is equivalent to a Cpl... then Master Bombardier/ MCPL  thats where it ends for arty ranks... the rest is just like the rest of the army/air
