A Deeply Fractured US

Anyone you can name right now? The shortlist is likely very short.
Or did you mean on his team? Nunes, Grenall, Navarvo etc.

But just put Marjorie Taylor Greene as a sec, the entertainment factor would be awesome! The liberal heads exploding would like in Kingman.

Like I said…I question the talent he will attract. The fact you mention MTG proves that point.

Trump will go full Stalin. Purge everyone and appoint a bunch of toadies. That will not end well. Look what happens here when a PM appoints a bunch of toadies.
No because they are working on a plan to move Schedule F to over 50,000 positions. Even if they don't fire everyone the threat alone with get the civil service in line. No more yes minister.

It not the toadies that is the real problem is that the PMO runs everything and today's minister are not really incharge of anything unless they can over come the PMO staffer

I thought you would like that one....It was for entertainment value! :)

I don't because there are many many people waiting in the wings to see a true small government happen.

Now if I was Putin, I would publicly offer Trump asylum at an Embassy to "Protect him from political persecution". It would be a cheap gesture and might make some of his supporters less likley to support Ukraine. Either way, it cost him little with some potentiel gain, not to mention messing with the biggest adversary he has.

But
Alan Dershowitz, a Constitutional lawyer and no friend of Trumps, weighs in.

While Dershowitz is a member of the Democratic Party and a Hillary Clinton supporter in 2016, he has also supported Donald Trump.

From Wikipedia :

In January 2020, Dershowitz joined President Donald Trump's legal team as Trump was being tried on impeachment charges in the Senate.
.
.
.
After the trial, Dershowitz used his ties with the Trump administration to lobby it to give clemency to various Dershowitz clients. He played a role in at least 12 clemency grants, as well as unsuccessfully lobbying the administration to commute the 10-year sentence of George Nader, who had pleaded guilty to child pornography and sex trafficking.[52]

Key thing to remember about Trump he was a Democrat for 50+ years.
He’s not actually a Republican, and 45’s record shows he will simply appoint toadies and sycophants.
People have a basic right to say to themselves, this is going horribly wrong and this is not the party I joined. What about the hundreds of thousands of democrats that have 'Walk(ed) Away' to join the republicans. Either in disgust of the democrats or because they agree with Trump? I actually think that's a good thing, not being beholden to any party. Trudeau Sr did the same thing. An avowed communist who knew he couldn't get elected as one, so he ran as a liberal and applied his communist ideals when he won as a grit. Speaking of appointing toadies, should we dismantle the biden appointments or the appointees he hires based on skin colour and not merit while justifying it by calling it equity? One look at the democrat judges that are being vetted for appointments by the Senate, shows massive ineptitude of understanding the law. When being questioned about the Constitution, they can't answer. They are completely ignorant of the Amendments or they can't define what a woman is. Some couldn't explain what the first and second Amendments even say. Here's two. There are lots more if anyone wants to look.

True

110%, the issue is when part of a Party takes on a a Cult-like following.

Hardly a role model for anyone ;)

Both Parties are terrible currently, I believe Trump mistook a lot of the Anyone But Hillary vote in 2016 for a major endorsement.
In the same way I think that POTUS has misjudged his mandate.

Neither party wants to actually address the despicable aspects of vote harvesting, or gerrymandering that really need to get dealt with.

Without intending to hijack the US thread here, I’m not sure the facts support that. He succeeded Pearson as Prime Minister in 68 and governed as PM for 6 months before facing the electorate. He then won three elections in a row- 68, 72, 74, including majorities in the first and third of those. He even returned to office with another majority in 80 after a very brief Conservative government starting in 79. So whatever his policies were, it would seem the electorate remained good with it for a good while, long after it was clear what he stood for. 20 years is a long time to hide your supposed avowed communist ideals as PM.

Now don't be bringing facts into this , you know how that derails an argument.
