A Deeply Fractured US

It’s not technically about Trump so I think it fits better here.
Holding support for Ukraine hostage to shallow political ends isn’t exactly unprecedented from a Trump presidency, so I’m willing to take Vance at face value on that.

I kind of put this into the same folder as Gutenberg, Caxton and the Stamp Acts of 1712 and 1765 and other Taxes on Knowledge.

The basis of the Freedom of the Press amendment.

Along with The Royal Mail going private, which I believe created the original internet, Boyle's "Invisible College"

Prior to privatization of the Mail people had to meet face to face to discuss ideas - Colleges and Institutions
After the mail ideas could be expressed clearly across Britain and over oceans. The environment for the proliferation of Coffee Houses, Taverns and Free Masons.

Elon Musk may be a bastard, but I like him. Boyle and Luther would approve as would Locke, Shaftesbury and Mills.
Al Gore invented the internet.

“I’m not going to go to some backwoods country and tell them how to live their lives,” Vance added. “But European countries should theoretically share American values, especially about some very basic things like free speech.”

I'm guessing he doesn't have a background in diplomatic or foreign relations.

This…I was not expecting.

"Those workers claimed that Robinson had bought “hundreds” of bootleg porn videos and that Robinson’s tastes lay in “just straight American porn.”

I wasn't aware porn stores had $1.00 bargain basket videos, that he could purchase by the hundreds, on a pizza shop employee hourly wage.

I wonder why nobody found this when he was running for and occupying the Lt Governor post.

And you talk about me using NewsMax?

The Daily Beast, really😅

LEFT BIAS

These media sources are moderately to strongly biased toward liberal causes through story selection and/or political affiliation. They may utilize strong loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by using appeal to emotion or stereotypes), publish misleading reports, and omit information that may damage liberal causes. Some sources in this category may be untrustworthy. See all Left Bias sources.

  • Overall, we rate the Daily Beast Left-Biased based on story selection and editorial positions that favor the left. We also rate them Mixed for reporting due to failed fact checks.

Analysis / Bias

According to a Washington Post article, Editor-in-Chief Noah Shachtman describes how he will improve the Daily Beast. He states, “I want us to lean harder into who we are,” explaining further, “That means that if the Daily Beast is in the business of scoops — more scoops. “If we’re painting in bright colors now, I want to paint even brighter.”

In review, the Daily Beast tends to publish left-leaning stories utilizing sensationalized headlines with emotionally loaded words such as “No, Rudy: Trump Isn’t Othello. He’s Iago” and “Imagine a Trump Who Could Constrain Himself and Just Talk About the Economy.” However, they typically source the info in their reports using credible sources such as Reuters, PBS, Slate, NY Times, and sources themselves. Despite that, they have published false claims and misinformation, as seen below.

I’m ashamed that even went down that rabbit hole but the article that The Daily Beast links to says that he bought one a week, for years.

The difference being that the Daily Beast has links to credible sources, as your quote says.

So yes, I linked to The Daily Beast but the original was on CNN saying similar things:

I don't consider CNN much of a truth network either. They've been caught more than once peddalling bullshit and false stories also.

Like I say, if it was years ago and out there as obvious as they let on, you'd think it would've been found during his run up and taking the office of Lt Governor.

I'm not saying it's not true, but there's just too many coincidences. Even the language used is suspect. I'll need more than CNN and the Daily Beast to convince me.

From the article:

Robinson listed his full name on his profile for Nude Africa, a pornographic website that includes a message board, as well as an email address he used on numerous websites across the internet for decades.

Many gratuitously sexual and lewd in nature, the comments were made under the username minisoldr, a moniker Robinson used frequently online. CNN was able to identify the username as Robinson by matching a litany of biographical details and a shared email address between the two.
  1. I guess they publicized how they connected the username to him
  2. Who the F posts their full name on a porn site, plus a real email address?
  3. Beyond that, who the F comments on a porn site?!
