If I am offered BMQ in the middle of summer (doubtful, but theoretically) can I ask to setback the date for employment reasons? I've got a new job and I would like to save some money before BMQ, etc... Would they let me take a fall BMQ (which is what I may be given anyway) but just wondering how it works.. Is it possible at all?

Cheers.

Oh, ok.. fair enough. No chance in that happening, so my job can just bite me. =)

Cheers

Were you asking because of the difference in money between your current job and being in the military?

No, I just wanted to know because they asked if I would be around for the summer.. I said I didn't know but most likely. My PT testing begins at 9am on April 5th, and my CFAT scores are already on record, so all that is left is interview(which I'm hoping is the same day as PT) and medical. I'd assume it's a summerlong process and willing to wait.

Cheers

Patrick are you going reg or res?  This may be a problem for me as I have final exams until the end of June and I cannot leave for BMQ until July. So I would have to start from scratch if I refuse the offer?

I am going to regs for Combat Engineer (hoping, anyway). I would assume it is the same situation for both regs/res. No?

How about yourself, reg or res? What trade?

Cheers

Then I can only assume the same for you as well. Take it or leave it, and reapply.

Them's the breaks.

Cheers.

Well that kinda sucks... i really hope my offer comes for july then.

Have you finished all your testing? If so, when?

If not, what stage are you at?

I'm merit listed, just waiting for the next selection boards.

Don't quit your job until you get an offer.

I quit mine when I had a very nice thing going for me and I gave it all up to pursue an army career.

Now I am left with nothing except useless GED.

I have testing on April 4.  If everything went smoothly and my file was forwarded to Borden,  in 4-6 weeks it should come back to Winnipeg.  Would I have to accept the offer tied to a date for BMQ?  I am owner of a small business and would need some time to wrap things up.  Would this be considered or would I have to restart the process over?

Your offer will include a specific BMQ date.  The rule now is if you turn down an offer for your first choice your file will be closed for six months.  The offers do give at least one month before BMQ if possible.

thanks kincanucks.  In your professional opinion if my testing went fine on April 4 and my medical file was sent to Borden what is an average length of time if there are no lingering issues?  Would it be possible to be offered a position before June 1 for the month of June BMQ?

Clean medicals can still take up to 6 weeks to come back.  Sure its possible.

well I have told a buddy I would stand up at his wedding in June, hope my date will be shortly after that and not shortly before.  Thanks again for the info Kincanucks, you are a great help.
