I’m sure she already knew she didn’t pull the trigger on him, but she deserves public vindication. The chief of SPVM should issue a comment.

It seems to be ambiguous whether she didn't shoot, or didn't shoot the victim.

Either way it's certainly a relief for her, I'm glad I was wrong.

This speaks to the need for consistent, accessible and outside the chain of command mental health support to police. In Ottawa for the past few decades the biggest threat to municipal police officers is themselves; hopefully proper supports can reduce that risk.

I heard early on that her partner may work for my agency. I'm back in on Friday and will make some inquiries.

The deceased officer's brother did, in fact, work for us in Montréal.

Honestly she probably knew at the moment in time, but self doubt can be really tough in OIS especially if a counter narrative gets overwhelming.

I’d say the Mayor and the Chief should be issuing supportive statements.
