Whats everyone thought on ACU? Does anyone use it for tac matches or does anyone have any? I would like your thought's and opinions on it. I think I might pick up a pair in the states for shits n giggles. I think its the velcro that makes em  ;D

I have a UCP Camelback, but I dusted it with OD Krylon because I felt the pattern was not optimal for woodland areas.

I have only seen it up close once on a US soldier and it is not as bad as I expected, however that was in a building not in the field.

We are now carrying products in ACU however it has not been a huge seller at all.

I've found from pictures that it looks grey in a woodland environment, and grey-blue in the desert. Up close it seems like a harshly faded urban camoflage.
The material IMO feels too thin to survive a good beating. It also seems alot of 82nd boys feel the same way.

Doesn't seem to stack up too well in a wooded area, the few American's I've seen wearing it stood out against the background of trees.

It seems as though there is not enough colour variation.  The shades used are quite close to each other, compared to Cadpat, or the analog American camouflouge.
If one was to be in the forest with that camo on, I could see how the contrast in the variations of colour in the forest would bring out the ACU with its comparitively very slight variations.

It does not look up to par, but that is just appearances.

They had the right idea though, going with a multi-theatre camoflage. It just seems they went with the wrong set of colors. Brown seems to be much more common then grey and that's why Multicam works so well in all but lush forest.

Was doing a one day training session and a US Army Colonel was present with us wearing the ACU uniform and as some say it overall has a grayish green colour to it and there is very little diference between the lightest and darkest colours. I would think it would be very effective in urban environments or in woodlands that are NOT green (ie) woodlands in November with no leaves on them when everything is grayish. When he stood out on grassy areas that was green he stood out just as a gray rock sitting on grass would, he even complained of it not being a good camoflauge for any type of forested (green) environment. However the uniform seemed well designed especially if one is wearing armour/TV, it had nice pockets on the sleeves, pen slot on the forearm and another pocket on the lower leg which seemed well placed. It would be nice to see those pocket designs incorporated into our uniform.

ACU - The pattern in which the uniform is made
ACUPAT - The colors in which the uniform is made

In light of this, ACU is pretty good. I love the arm pockets and the mandarin collar. If the material was a tad thicker it would be awesome.
ACUPAT, from what I remember, was designed specifically for urban combat, seeing as the US Army is destined to be doing alot of it in the near future. It makes sense since camoflage isn't the most important aspect when fighting in a builtup area.

I haven't met one US Soldier that really likes it. The uniform isn't very durable, sticks out in woodland areas, etc. But they like the pocket placements. Some units(in the US) are only using ACU for garrison an still wearing Woodland BDUs in the field. Some guys overseas, only wear the ACU shirt, an wear DCU pants(tougher than ACU ones).
