A lot of people do shit (gear/weapon wise) that works for them, BUT it is my experience that techniques take a LOT of time, and various experiences to be determined as flawed. Some people never even realize that their techniques are flawed becase they use poor TTP's during the execution of their techniques.
The PVS-14 mounted on a rifle and not on a soldier's head during guard duty is a fine example. UNLESS THE SOLDIER HAS MORE THAN ONE. IE: one on the weapon and one on the helmet.
I don't just offer bitches and gripes, I usually offer solutions.
Would a soldier not be able to engage a target further out with a zeroed PEQ-2A and helmet mounted NOD that has a X3 magnifier attached?
If a SOF guy chose to use a sight for a static night guard position, why not use the PVS-17? It has the best image tube and clarity of any dedicated NOD on the market.
