Alberta government thread

It's perfectly reversible. If an individual decides, nah, I'm the gender I was assigned at birth, they just have a delayed puberty. The body knows what to do.

If they decide to transition, they will not have gone through the permanent effects of puberty.

Why anyone who loves their children would consciously choose to force their child to be locked into permany physical changes of puberty when they can simply delay them and allow the child the choice when they are older is beyond me. As for Alberta blocking them, it's just cruelty.

This is not to say that puberty blockers are 100 percent safe 100 percent of the time, but I would argue it's a tad bit more safe than suicide. The cost benefit of it should be decided by the individual, doctors and families, not the goddamn government.
Alberta blocking them isn't cruelty - it's the opposite.

It's common sense legislation that tries to ensure a basic, universally accepted legal principal - that decisions you make that will have serious life long consequences are at least made when you are technically an adult, and not made as a child (which is technically everything prior to turning 18yo in the province of Alberta)

If you aren't old enough to get a tattoo because of the permanent nature of the decision prior to turning 18, then you shouldn't be making decisions that will leave you permanently fucked up either.

(Messing with the body's hormone production and natural development during such a critical time as childhood is what seems cruel to me. Sure, your kid identifies as a tube of toothpaste for a while - doesn't mean you sacrifice them ever having children of their own in order to accomodate them.)
