Alberta: Stelmach won't seek re-election

It may be. I sense that AB may steer even further to to right at the next election.

The PC's have not had any realistic competition for literally decades.....the Wild Rose Party (who are all former PC'ers) are making them work for a living....

ohhhh, it gets better. I guess Mr Stelmach is really throwing in the towel: http://www.calgarysun.com/news/alberta/2011/01/25/17028026.html

My understanding of the Wildrose Alliance would seem to indicate a fiscally conservative party, but somewhat anti-bureaucracy "libertarian". Its unlikely the WA would be able to achieve a majority, but the Conservatives are going to take a hit in the next election. They've been taking some heat lately, and the "Cookiegate" thing didnt help... As ridiculous as it sounds, the Stephen Duckett thing was the cookie that broke the camel's back. Errrr, that, and the whole flap about our busted health care system.....
Recipe for the cookies here, and believe you-me: they're GOOOOOD... : http://www.globaltvcalgary.com/Stephen+Duckett+Oatmeal+Raisin+Cookies/3884670/story.html

Duckett's crime was piloting a rudderless ship.  Alberta has piled tremendous increases into healthcare and the problems gets worse.  The system itself is sick and until administrators realize that money isn't the problem, the inability to break a sweat and meet objectives is.
