Well... Time to dredge this up from the abyss.

CFHD has been updated, and as predicted, it essentially wipes out the pay raise for the Jr ranks in many locations.

It's kinda bad optics that this happened just as Canada has officially slipped into a recession.

Its regrettable that this has happened to people but predicted by people several years ago and I suspect was intentional the whole time. As someone on the tale end of a reducing CFHD provisional and new SDA that cut my SDA to about 40% of what I made before I feel for them. No-one likes losing money from their bottom line.

It’s not really bad optics because the story isn’t being broadcast loudly across the news like when the “good news” was getting released

Yet...

Edit: for the coasts we are talking a $300-400 a month pay cut, That isn't going to stay off the news radar very long. For my pay rate it is a $475/month cut to before taxes pay.

Alternative take: for the past year, after the big pay increase, you received more than the policy intended to give you.

I have never received a penny of CFHD, I simply used my pay bracket as an example.

For people who were already getting CFHD, they got a pay raise, and now they are getting a take-home pay cut. Dress it in whatever institutional language you like, CAF members will have less money to cover their bills come 01 Jul 26.

That's something the institution is going to have to address, or people will be running to their local paper, or MP to have the issue raised by the media I suspect The Globe/CBC/CTV aren't going to accept your response as good enough...

The policy intent of CFHD was always to be an annual review to ensure folks were not paying more than 25% of their household income for non-Crown owned accommodations, updated on an annual basis.

After a huge, out of cycle pay update, the rates have now been realigned.

The institution needs to be much better in financial education.
