Anyone experienced what I am experiencing?
I have been in the army for 14 months now since my basic started. to this day I have:
Done BMQ 10weeks
Done SQ 6 weeks
Done  LSVW course 2 weeks
Done  basic mountain ops course 2 weeks

20 weeks of training in 14months with NO date for my QL3 training
my semi skilled status wasn't even accepted until two months ago

..i'd like to thank my recruiter  :cam:

It could be a bit before you do your QL3 training, it all depends on when the next course is and if there is an open spot. Hopefully you don't get stuck in a PAT battalion.

Why wasn't your semi-skilled status recognized?  Do you have a diploma from a college?  Which CFRC did you go through?

NTFH,

I feel for you.  I think there are tons of people in your shoes presently and that is unfortunate.  I was in a holding platoon in Wainwright for about 1 month and PAT platoon in Borden for about another month (many moons ago) and that was LONG enough.  I don't know what I'd do if the wait was as long as yours.  I think the forces will be seeing many release requests due to the long waits.  When you join you usually don't realize that this might be a situation you will find yourself in.  I am surprised though that you haven't been given a date even if its February 2006 or something equally discouraging.  They really should have an idea of when you will be course loaded.

So what is this semi-skilled status you speak of??

civy side i was an electronics engineering technician. which makes me excempt from the first 8 months of FCS Tech training in Kingston (POET). i don't have a CET date or a QL3 date. I was recruited in Moncton, NB through CFB Gagetown (where i swore in). I'm in Borden now. I have been fortunate to have things to do besides just rotting on pat though. 4 months working with 3rd canadian ranger patrol. soldier qualification in meaford. i worked support on august 2003 stalwart gaurdian in Pet. did 2 week enemy force july 2003. may 15th i was on the feu de joy for EME Day parade(they let me wear hooks and EME DEU kit on that parade). just got off basic mountain ops in meaford. got LSVW. it could be worse but it's also not getting any better.

my semi skilled wasn't recognized because, i don't know who, some gremlin or something likes to lose things from my personal file even before i have a chance to get photocopies. luckily the college i went to is very co-operative with it's alumni and they fax transcripts no questions asked.   persistance got me my incentives.

i could make much more civy side, but i didn't join the army to make lots of money.  :soldier:

NTFH,I suggest you take your Civie Papers and go to your career Manager and get it corrected.

no one on borden pat platoon ever meets with career managers. it took me a while but i DID get incentives. just interesting the way things are going for some people since the expansion plan has been implemented.

NTFH: You're hardly the only one in that situation. There's a serious personnel shortage in the CF at the moment and courses, particularly skilled ones are increasingly hard to come by. With troops in Bosnia, Afghanistan, and now Haiti, the forces are spread thinner than ever and courses are being cancelled left right and center, in the Regs and Reserves. Your situation is unfortunate, but far from uncommon. When I was posted to Shilo two years ago, there were almost 30 guys who had been waiting around for months on end just waiting to get on their gunners course. I would speak to a career manager and see what you can arrange in terms of status, but otherwise I would be prepared for more waiting around.
