I've always wanted a career in the military, so I thought I might start looking at whats currently available.

I'm looking at the forces.ca site right now and the jobs posted as currently available do not interest me.

How often do new positions become available ? (ie, once a month, every three months , six months, a year , etc )

I'm looking for a position in either, Intelligence or Weapons / Ammo tech.
Does anyone know how often these positions become available ?

If the only positions available right now are what's currently posted on the forces.ca site, does that mean that Infantry is also not taking anyone ? (I find that hard to believe if its true...)

The forces website sometimes lags reality. You can only be sure by talking to a Canadian Forces Recruiting Centre.

Surprising as it may be, infantry has in fact been closed periodically. Sometimes circumstances result in the CF having more people in a trade than the trade manning policy (the 'establishment') allows. Alternatively, the training system may be stuffed full, and hiring ceases for a time to let it clear backlog.

Don't let the website discourage you. As brihard said the best thing you can do is contact a RC and ask. The website hasn't had artyman as looking for applicants in about 6 months and I was processed and offered a job on friday. Best of luck on your application!

Like how it says that Combat Engineers kick off their training with the BMOQ!

That website has been known to be a tad misleading. ;)

The website used to have a section beside each job that had a checkmark for accepting applications or not. They took that off, presumably because it wasn't updated regularly. Those 5 or 6 jobs that are listed on the front page are not the only ones accepting applications, a LOT of jobs are right now from what the recruiting centre has been saying. Call and ask about what you're interested in any they'll tell you.
