Hi everyone, my name is Sean I'm currently 17 years old, and after high school I'd like to join the Canadian Military. There are so many choices I don't know what to choose, if I got free training I'd be a medic (I'm good at human anatomy). But I'm into Armour thats cool stuff ;).
Or there's infantry, since i was a boy I've been taut how to shoot and operate wepsons (ex. shooting range, hunting, airsofting.)
I have a good shot :threat:.

I'd like to learn a lot more before I join, so if anyone can help me it would be much appericated.
And for future recruiters I'd like to get some experience during summer, if possible let me know.
Thank you.

You said you'd want to be a medic if you got free training? You don't pay for any of the training you do in the Military, did you mean post-secondary education?

Anyways, check out the army recruiting website, lots of information there, and also on this site, just search around the forum, and ask questions if you have any(just search and make sure they haven't been asked/answered before)

Tsk, tsk. Again the voice of vast experience rears it's ugly head. NOW I know what I've been doing for the last 36 years. :o

PS - use the spell checker

If you want to look good, join the Armoured.

If you want to be good, join the Infantry...

Let the flame war begin.

Why carry your kit when your kit can carry you?

Ransomed,

Surf around here and look into the equipment the armoured and the infantry use. In a Mechanized Infantry Batt, you can be a driver or a gunner for a LAV 3. That might be a "best of both worlds" option for you. In the armoured you'll have the chance to work with Coyote recce vehicles, which look like smaller LAVs but are crammed with all sorts of electronics and sensors and stuff for scouting out enemy positions. I'm not sure about the state of our Leopards and Strykers, but I'm sure you can find some info about those around here. Other then that, everyone will say their particular unit is the best and I'm sure you can find a way to have a good time in either trade.

Absolutely true. Both are Combat Arms and support each other as part of the Combat Team. All fingers in the same glove. You'll have fun in either arm. Both are military royalty. The King and Queen of battle. ;D

Well the Armoured has always been considered and called the King of Battle, so........ ;D

Dave, I always thought that the Armour was the Chastity belt that kept the Queen from getting raped?

Everyone knows that the Infantry is the Queen of battle!

Yeah, and in Chess, who's more powerful, the king (one square at a time), or the queen (move in practically any direction, as many squares as she wants)?

That's right, the Queen! Infantry!!!

Too bad. As much as people would like to equate it as such, what we do is not a game, chess or otherwise.  ;)

I'd think the Queen would be the one riding the giant phallic symbol all day. :o

Ladies don't drink beer and live off of peanut butter sandwiches as they cruise cross-country looking out not to grease their tracks.  ;D  " I say wott......Driver Halt....I've spilt my ale.......Loader!....another sangie bitter......Gunner!........speck fire on that Farm House wott hey!  Ah! Yes!  The smell of cordite in the morning.......smells like victory!
