Army Reserve Restructuring

Maybe it is time to stand at the Admin O or C HRA desk until they can show that it has been entered. Or you could do as a sgt I knew early in my career did and walk into the COs office loudly proclaiming "Sir, we have a problem that you need to fix". It worked and it was fixed.
Most units in Southern Ontario don't have those positions anymore.

Ontario brigades centralizing pay processing etc seems to be an abject failure from what ive seen. Frankly I dont see why we arent hiring civilians in ORs at reserve units, I see tons of them on bases.

37 CBG did that here in Garrison St. John's... and it also failed....now units have their own OR's back but are critically under staffed... some are even missing Chief Clerks are there is none being posted into those positions for the foreseeable future, some even tried 3 year REO's and no bites....

We had similar issues, brigade cheif clerk was also the chief clerk for a lot of the units, we had more REO success, most of our OR is non clerks. Again this is why I think hiring civilians would be better, youll have pay experts, who know they system working long term without the constant turn over and reteaching of systems.

Is this shit for real? Units no longer have full-time RSS C/Clk and a couple of full-time (Cl B) clerks?

Imagine civilian clerks who are also class A reservists...

Correct, Reg Force either doesnt have them or wont post them. But ironically they have been taking tons of the Class B clerks from reserve ORs thanks to the signing bonus. Its a one way kind of relationship

Just speaking for the RCN, but the HRA world is actually in worse shape than our Cooks and MAR Techs. With chronically low numbers; and what they do have is muchly on MELs.

Really reinforcing the need for civi clerks...excuse me as I make a note to ask at the next town hall.

It is rapidly failing here as well. Missed pay runs, increased time for promotions etc etc.

Seems like the staff are burning out at a faster rate as well.

When they sent our non HRAs doing clerk work packing and then started to ask if any would come back the answer was essentially a middle finger.

It can work, if resourced properly and if the supported units get their heads out of their asses and ensure their part of the work is done properly.

But the Army always wants support on the cheap, then is astounded when it fails, then blames those delivering support with insufficient resources.
