B.C. Government (Conservative Majority), 2026-(NLT)2031

Eby changed the circumstances affecting everyone's calculations pretty much all on his own, which had the somewhat expected effect of unifying conservatives. I had though Centre BC might emerge as the controlling party, but the ejection of Findlay seems to have greased the path for BCCP to hold the umbrella.

Not gonna miss the sourpuss, especially since he was one of the stickhandlers for getting BC stuck unnecessarily far into over-compensating aboriginal local government at the expense of the province & Canada and the global strategic natural resource sector supply chain as a whole.

There, added to that FY ;)

I'm inclined to think that the potential buyers mostly are not left in the lurch. There are crimps in the flow because of the legal impedimenta, but all that is required is enough "squeeze" to get things moving. For example, BC has seen how fast some local governments will tell the eco-zealots and others to fuck off after the former seal a deal to exploit whatever they were "protecting".

On target...

Rob Shaw: Eby has only himself to blame for election disaster

Decision to call a snap election cost BC NDP its majority, leaving party to examine how it all went wrong

BC NDP Leader David Eby led his party to disaster Saturday with an ill-timed snap campaign, leaving two years of majority government on the table, his legacy as premier sullied and his party in near-ruins.

Hubris proved the NDP’s downfall, as it has so many parties before it.

A government nine years in office, too complacent and lazy to see it had fallen deeply out of public favour.

A small team of senior strategists misreading every real-world metric available in favour of better-tasting bathwater.

A leader who saw his time at the top coming to an end, and instead of bowing out gracefully for the good of the party chose to gamble everything to extend his own political life at the expense of so many others.

It did not have to be this way for the NDP — and that is one of the harshest truths New Democrats will need to wrestle with in the months and years ahead.

Had a meeting with my clients yesterday. What this election means for them was a big topic. I think their project might be seen as a easy win for the new government, but cautioned that the next 6 months are going to be a bit of a struggle as Ministries start to realign with the new government priorities and likely the Ministries changing shape, size, name and direction all at the same time. I told them to brief their MLA (Reelected Conservative) so they can help champion/shepherd the project through this phase.
