Anyone who has been to St.Jean for there BMQ, do you know whats around there, like is it farm land, city, are there bars, stores, malls, whats in the area????

I know for the first 4 weeks you cant go anywhere on the weekends (like leaving the base) so on the weekends you can go somewhere where do you go and do you have to find like a hotel to stay in or can you come back to the base - curfue?

You see the movies about ppl in the armed forces whether american or whatever have dog tags, in the canadian forces do we get them and whats on them? or ID?

What fun stuff, like personal stuff can you bring with you, i know a person doesnt get a lot of time to himself while training to read, play video games, listen to music but am i so far off?

and lastly how long between BMQ, SQ and all the training periods do you get off to come home if you get any at all?

just bored and trying to fill gaps in my thoughts, ya know....   :blotto:

please no rumours, good hard facts!!
THANKS   :salute:

Around St-Jean there are a lot of bars, shopping malls, and almost anything you need.
Yes you get dog tags, at around your 6th or 7th week there.  It has your name, service # and blood type.
WRT SQ, it all depends on what date you are schedualed to start your course.  If you have time to get some leave in between, then sure.

You can bring personal stuff with you.  Books are fine, maybe a game boy.  But don't bring anything bigger than a shoe box because then you wont be able to keep it on your locker.  They have a Bistro there that has an X box and a couple computers for entertainment when you are done training for the day and allowed to go in the Bistro.

I hope that answers some of your questions.
