Hey everyone,
My application for the reserves has just finished (I‘ve been accepted, but have yet to swear in) and I was talking with my friend‘s sister, Heather. Heather‘s friend is in the military and he told her about a test where one must use all the training experience gained to out wit trained police dogs. Is this true? Also, what other tests must one pass to complete basic training?

Kyle

There is NO Performance Objective (PO) test on Basic Training that involves police dogs. He is yanking your chain.

I didnt actually speak to the person who claims to have done the test, basically it was hearsay (about which I was skeptical, although I secretly hoped it was true (yes, I‘m weird)). In light of this, I should probably modify my original question slightly. Does that test exist anywhere in the CF (reg. force or reserves)? I suppose that now my second question concerning PO tests after Basic Training is my main question.

I‘ve never heard of such a test. Perhaps your friend was talking about escape & evasion and resistance to interrogation training.

I had heard, long long ago, that this sort of thing went on, and troops would be dropped off in the middle of the countryside with only their clothes on their back and told to make their way somewhere and evade capture. I have no idea if this actually happens, or what. But I imagine if it‘s true, there could be police dogs involved, and the object of course is to not get caught ... no clue if this is some sort of PO check though.

I imagine almost everything in the army can be made into a PO check... haha

Oh well, thanks for the info you guys. While I‘m getting very psyched for this summer with the Black Watch I‘m still a little nervous about what there is in store for me. Anyone here in the Black Watch?

hahaha, gotta love the war smileys... this thread has really deteriorated, eh?

They use dogs in the escape and evasion training. They are givin a brief overview on how to avoid the dogs. Its not a course per sae more a lecture.
