This operation was timed with the deployment of a battalion task force of the 1AD which has been held in reserve in Kuwait. It is also a sort of training exercise with the Iraqi Army being able to participate in an air assault. Nothing like the thrill of an air assault with the LZ prepped by air strikes and gunships followed by the troop ships inserting the troops.
