The sniper fired his single from a L115A sniper rifle from a range of 1,800m
The bullet first struck the man holding the machine gun in the head
It then hit second terrorist in the chest and passed through his body
The bullet ricocheted off a wall and hit a third man in the neck
The operation took place in a remote northern Iraqi village in November

But how much of this "new" role is a result of makey-workey for what will be the remnants of 42 Commando following reduction in RM pers numbers to meet budget shortfalls?  Wasn't this role already within the purview of 43 Cdo Fleet Protection Group and (perhaps) the SBS.

I see that you have figured out the Royal Marines' 'MoD cuts survival' strategy.

When they 'disbanded' 41 Cdo years ago they magically stood up 'Commacio Group' as a nuclear/ oil rig CT security unit.

The Paras have done the same by re-roling 1 PARA into an SF Support Group similar to our CSOR.
