Hey all, 2 random questions that I've been thinking of..

1. Are there any policies on family members being posted to the same base? I ask because my brother and I both applied as Combat Engineer and it would be pretty cool if we ended up together! (I know unlikely, if they would even consider it)

2. Around Ottawa I've noticed a lot more activity with the army outside of the base. Are military excersises usually held outside of base? Just curious since I've never noticed until recently.

Thanks ahead for any response!

1.  It's certainly possible.

2.  Exercises "on the economy" are not new, perhaps there just hasn't been one near you before.

Adding to what Mr. O'Leary said, it also depends on the context of the FTX if it's urban patrolling why not use the surround area vice a desolate training area.......adds to the realism......

Okay I though so, I guess I just never noticed before! And well
we will see how my brother and I do with our applications, it would be sweet to bring the families to the same place! (My mom wants to follow me to stay with the grandbaby, but feels bad for my brother :p)

Thanks guys :)

Postings are determined in part by the needs of the service and the other part is a magic chrystal ball with a voodoo which doctor. You and your brother can both put in your choices but in the end you will have little control over your fate, especially on your initial posting. Now that I have thrown some cold water on you, I can tell you I have seen family members on the same unit on numerous occasions let alone the same base. So it is not impossible.

As for your mother following you to help with the grandchild; that is all on you. The Military will take care of you, your spouse and dependents only.

Yea don't get me wrong, I have no expectation of it actually happening. I Was just curious if it was even a possibility.

Since you mentioned the moving expenses, I heard they will also cover costs to visit the posting location ahead of time for house/apartment viewings. Is that true? (For myself only of course)

Thanks!
