CAN-USA Tariff Strife (split from various pol threads)

I do that too, but I'm just a jackass on the web, not some kind of professionally credentialed doctor misusing my status by appealing to my own authority to make a diagnosis I'm not actually in a position to make, and ethically forbidden from making in that way.
how are they not in a position to make a diagnosis?

Hippocratically one shouldn’t make a clinical diagnosis of genetically proximal relations upon which treatment would be conducted.

Forming a non-treatment related pseudo-diagnosis, however, is not restricted in the Hippocratic sense. If someone is qualified to know if something quacks and has webbed feet, they can unrestrictedly espouse that something is quacking and has webbed feet.

Who could have possibly had the foresight to know putting tariffs on something you make almost none of would result in higher prices of that thing.

You made the snide comment about the Americans grabbing Maduro. Grabbing Maduro is about much more than only drugs, oil, or hurt feelings. Suggest you do some reading about the impacts of it. Even some democrats praised this, which must be quite difficult for them given this administration's antics.
I just happen to believe that concepts such as nationhood, sovereignty and a rules-based world order mean something. The US has set itself as the world police (or, at least the hemisphere police, but they seem to like bombing other weak countries as well) and has distain for any kind of international consensus. Putin invaded Ukraine claiming it was full of Nazis and corruption and apparently that was a bad thing. Maybe he should just have gone in and snatched Zelenskyy.

On the 'want to be American' point you raise, you (and others) keep making leaps like this. Nobody has stated the whole world wants to be American. Nobody has stated being an American is the most "wonderous thing in the world". These are all leaps you are making on your own.
If myself and others are making leaps on the words being used on this topic, maybe folks should use different words. 'That's not what I want, I'm just raising points of argument', comes off as passive-aggressive.

With respect to Greenland, who have already considered independence from Denmark, a union of some kind with another friendly nation is not out of the realm of the possible. This is where what's on the table matters.

If people think that the US administration is merely after some kind of sovereignty association, or that Trump is just being Trump, art of the deal, maybe we should start taking what he, and the talking heads in his Administration, are saying seriously.

SCOTUS released decisions today but has not ruled on the tariffs yet.

Interesting how quickly they're able to move regarding other things.

They're clearly afraid of a ruling either way, POTUS' wrath or the perceived loss legitimacy in the eyes of the people.

Next rulings date is this coming Wednesday, Jan 14th.

You really believe the justices are "afraid", and that the schedule for releasing decisions buys some time that matters?
