CAN-USA Tariff Strife (split from various pol threads)

But, but . . . I thought he said the US didn't need our stuff.

He says a lot of things.

Occasionally I have to remind my kids the difference between 'need' and 'want'.

That question should be "What leader does the Liberal Party of Canada want you to think will roll over for Trump?". Pollievere has had the hardest counter statements and an actual plan to divest of the US economy. So much so LPC leader candidates are taking his platform.

If you keep saying you won’t do x but the public keeps thinking you will do x, it’s time for a new plan.
For a military based user group the amount of posters preparing preemptive excuses to avoid holding their prefered leader accountable is kind of ironic.

Carney rolled over to Trump last year, when he moved Brookefield to New York, from Canada

Then he bald faced lied to the Canadian people at the English debate about the move.

I wonder when the CPC attacks are going to get into the real meat of the BAM relocation details. How many jobs were lost to New York, what tax revenue shifted etc.

Oh wait- I know that answer is never because the number is zero.

WRT to this Ben Mulroney - yes son of Brian "The Chin" Mulroney raked a CBC reporter over the coals about this. The reporter not only reported the move but made excuses which may be valid reasons - access to US markets etc.
Nevertheless CBC continues to prop up this terrible LPC.

Carney's lie about the timeline of the move does not look good on him. That is the only real honest attack opening. He lied, no ifs and or buts about it.
By that lie, Carney called his character into question, and left himself open to attack.

But implying that the move itself was something it wasn't and building an attack narrative around that is no less of a lie, with all the same pitfalls.

Um, last year Biden was president if I recall….
He may be referring to this

But the bottom line is, Carney backed moving his company’s head office to the United States at a time when Donald Trump was already threatening Canada’s economy with 25% tariffs. He and Brookfield could have changed course after Trump launched his attack on Nov. 25.

Does not look good to Conservatives. No one else seems to care.

There's always a but when Liberal politicians get caught lying.

You're doing a but.. but for the CPC. They're lying about the nature of the "move".. but it's ok because- Carney lied first? The ends justify the means?
