CAN-USA Tariff Strife (split from various pol threads)

Mexico isn't having any better luck.

Lutnick has opposed significant reductions in the 25% tariff on Mexican automobiles and the 50% levies on steel and aluminum, the people said. Also on metals, he has objected to reductions in tariffs on so-called derivative products—finished products made of steel and aluminum. Domestic aluminum companies have told the administration that any reduction in these levies would undermine U.S.-based firms and cost American jobs.

Wait you mean to suggest there’s no actual mutually advantageous, reliable, good faith deal to be had with the Trump administration on trade? That’s absurd.

More importantly, it invalidates their messaging that Canada is the "problem" with now another country saying Lutnick is pulling the exact same shtick on them.
