Canada moves to 2% GDP end of FY25/26 - PMMC

More Trudeau era status quo policies will just lead us closer and closer to Alberta separating or becoming the 51st. Good luck with that GDP Canada when your biggest contributor is gone.
Still ringing that bell eh? A landlocked Alberta is poor and isolated. As an American state they lose the large influence they have in national affairs, if they're even allowed to vote. I mean if the Seps want to be a resource colony, they can make that pitch.

If someone is looking for something to spend a few billion on instead of pay raises, here's my vote for at least four battalions of these.

🍻 .
God they're so sexy. From what I've seen, the 9035 hits that sweet spot with wicked firepower but a superior ammo capacity to the original with the 40mm. Probably the best tracked IFV on the market. I'd love to see what a heavy brigade with IFV, Cav, mortar and CSS variants looks like with some new Leopards or even K2s. Would be a nightmare for the Russians when even the IFVs can realibly pen their older MBTs.

By population, AB would be somewhere below the midpoint of ranking; by GDP, somwhere above it. As a state with - most likely - 2 Republican senators, they'd be enormous. That's why AB won't be admitted until Democrats and Republicans both calculate that it would at least be a swing state for the foreseeable future.

The bigger argument is which states give up congressional seats to them. Which likely means territorial status for a very very long time…

And the population would drop by at least a million if they left.

Puerto Rico would also not take being skipped over very kindly. They're at 57% in favour of statehood now.

I think you are highly delusional if you think that Alberta would vote 2 Republican senators under the America understanding of Republican. Canadian Right wing is more aligned with South Carolina Democrats.

The million that left would likely be the progressives, so ultimately a net gain.

How about pitching a Rupert's Land Union including the Territories?

Consider the chain yanked. ;)

The strongest remain proponents are in the cities, Calgary and Edmonton. Those are also the strongest NDP strongholds. And they are the magnets for most of the recent immigrants.

They represent one Alberta.

With the success of the deal Poland has made, I'm more inclined to believe the possibility of K2's has increased. As for the CV would also be real nice, even nicer if it comes with one of the 2 supported ATGM's.

As noted above, some Canadians would immediately leave. I can guess that would make AB a lot more conservative; oil and gas is still an important industry in AB, and Democrats are still mostly reflexively hostile to fossil fuels.

Albertans would have to get used to being paid in USD, having employer health insurance or paying for it themselves and having to endure much shorter wait times for most things; and, if they are inclined military, reconciling themselves to having lots of first-class equipment and purposeful employment in major formations. Depending on where a cut-off date is set (if any) for expedited US citizenship, there might be a inflow of Canadians hoping to establish residency before that date.

There would be no point accepting an offer of territorial status, irrespective of whether people think there should be some kind of queue among territories and possessions for full statehood. AB would still be a net contributor, not needing federal subsidization. As for the House, seats would be added rather than reapportioned.

And go up by a million five in illegals in the US looking to work in the oil/gas camps......enjoy!

Preferably with this operational mode. If it works on an M2, and is cheap enough for the Ukrainians to be able to afford it then it should be an option for all turrets. Safe-Single-Auto-AI.

Each Sky Sentinel costs about $ 150,000, which is significantly cheaper than a single interceptor missile from many traditional air defense systems. Given that each Shahed costs about $ 100,000, the system offers a cost-effective response to the air threat.

According to their laws you cannot add seats. Congress is set. They’ve tried to but because of partisan issues it has never materialized. Even when Hawaï was admitted they only temporarily increased the amount.

All I would say is good luck with that.
