Canada moves to 2% GDP end of FY25/26 - PMMC

There is BNQ coming to NS this year. (Aberfoyle??). I think they are integrating NETP (MARS 2) directly into the program (like they did with my pres BOTC back in the day) to reduce training delays/gaps, admin etc...

Airforce is looking at a BAFQ in BC.

The recruiting SIP target for this year is 8200‐8500 pers up from 6950. CAF has grown this last year by >2000 pers.

Borden, St.Jean and overflow base in Meaford cannot host that number of people. So more spaces are needed. And that means more bases to do BMQ.

Purple is a myth.

Also, it could be argued that the ECS are getting away from the lowest common denominator so they can improve things.

Purple is become more of a myth every year. All purple trades in Army uniforms will now be doing the equivalent of Soldier Qualification. Officers will be doing same but their version (name escapes me now, ATOC?).

All naval uniforms will be doing NETP.
All airforce uniforms will be... dunno. I legit don't know what the plan is for them*

Follow on training will be common. You'll see less army uniforms on ships and less navy uniforms on army bases in the purple trades going forward. Med is perhaps going all army uniforms soon, MPs already have.

(*intentionally passes opportunity to make a joke here at the airforce expense).

"Real" purple is the ability to fuse effects across multiple domains on a common target or objective, and to sustain that effort. We dress people up differently and water down their training so they can go to the same school and then call it "purple."

Time to reopen CFB Cornwallis?

Suffield is about to become very full if the artillery gets all their SPGs and Rocket stuff.
1 and 3 RCHA will be in shilo still, could they come out to suffield to shoot? Sure but infrastructure wise suffield has a lot of room to grow, especially with the British withdrawal. New shacks, messes etc

No, not for the RCN anyways.

The plan is to run BRT out of the NRDs across the country. Ideally situating the recruit as close to their home as possible.

God willing this will be concept proven this summer out of Scotian starting off with 60 pers. Then hopefully ramping up across the country to 1k pers.

The course content will be such that first half of the course is your common trg. Drill, saluting, ranks, admin ect ect ect. The second half is the NETP.

At the end we get a sailor that we can send to the fleet and at least be 'safe at sea', for lack of a better term, and find out more into career selection and development.

Trade and element dependent with the air force being the most flexible. For example, the RCAF will allow senior Captains affiliated with land aviation to do the CA's AOC in lieu of the RCAF's ASPOC so that those personnel better understand their CA peers (and clients). Meanwhile, nobody is making dentists do AOC, even though they are all green DEU. They do the JSOP course offered by CFC.

Really we probably need a bit more rationalization on what purple really means to different trades, units, etc.
