Don’t let reality intrude on the grand plans of the Official Languages Office.I don't think it will be possible for everyone Sgt and above to have a second language profile.

Thanks for this, but it brings out other questions.
1) How much is 15,000 shells casings a month (from what I can read, these are shell casings, not 15,000 'live' shells, correct?), above what we are currently producing?
2) How many of these 15,000 shell casings are staying here in Canada? Are they all going to the US? Are they all going to Ukraine?
3) Is this the same facility/company that recently had the AFV conversion/upgrade of LAV's going to Ukraine just taken from them by the CAF because the work wasn't being completed?
4) Is 15,000 shell casings the final number we are looking at producing here in Canada? Are we looking at doing any 'final assembly' of complete shells here at all?
Interesting article especially the dollar values being used as a planning figure to clothe and equip soldiers.
$1850 for clothing and $6000 for equipment.
It’s an interesting number that might speak to several things, it’s hard to tell from the article. However a total of approximately $8000 is pretty light to equip a soldier for ground combat.
US estimates are $20,000 minimum. UK estimates are 60,000 pounds. Both those estimates are also over 10 years old now, as they were GWOT era estimates.
There is a "plan" to have all members MCpl and up in some trades, in some regions be bilingual. There is also a "plan" to have all members WO and up BBB... Without adding extra resources to language training.Possibly the wrong forum.
Is there an upcoming policy that all Sergeants and above must be bilingual? Is this only for the NCR, non combat arms?
We need to stop calling it a second language when the only options are English and French. Forcing French on everyone Sgt or WO and above is going to be a massive anchor on promotions. Also, good luck retaining immigrants who already have a real second language.I don't think it will be possible for everyone Sgt and above to have a second language profile.

And I wonder what the figure looks like for the Federal Public Service which, I assume, is the standard to which the CAF is being held - or something like that.

The greatest concentrations of bilingual positions are in the National Capital Region (62%), Quebec (67%) and New Brunswick (53%).
