Canada's tanks

Meanwhile, back to the Booker.....

I'm guessing GDLS Canada is glad for that link up with BAE for the BvS10 Beowulf?
Doesn't BAE also distribute Hagglunds other product? The CV 90?

These might be more in our budget, but unfortunately they're another US product...

This is what the Ajax family is supposed to have replaced.

KISS.

BAE owns Hagglunds, and has for quite some time. As well as absorbing Alvis Vickers (those two had merged prior, United Defense Industries, and the gun side of Bofors (Saab bought the parent and spun off the guns while keeping the missiles).

Realistically there are 3 main NATO ground vehicle producers - BAE, GDLS, and Rheinmetall.

KNDS is huge.

  • Leopard 2 A-RC 3.0 and Leclerc Evolution: Next-generation MBT concepts currently under development.

Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFVs) and Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs)
  • Puma: A modern infantry fighting vehicle for the German Army.
    • VBCI (Véhicule blindé de combat d'infanterie): A wheeled armored infantry fighting vehicle used by the French military, including the MkII variant.
    • Boxer: A highly protected, modular 8x8 wheeled armored vehicle manufactured in a joint venture (ARTEC GmbH) with Rheinmetall, available in multiple variants including ambulance, command post, and infantry carrier.
    • Griffon (VBMR): A multi-purpose armored vehicle developed as part of the French SCORPION program with partners Arquus and Thales.
    • Serval (VBMR-L): A light multi-role armored vehicle, also part of the SCORPION program.
    • VAB (Véhicule de l'Avant Blindé): An older, widely used French armored personnel carrier.

Artillery and Air Defense Systems
  • PzH 2000 (Panzerhaubitze 2000): A highly effective German self-propelled howitzer.
  • CAESAR: A 155 mm wheeled self-propelled howitzer system.
  • Gepard: A self-propelled anti-aircraft artillery system.
  • RCH 155: A remote-controlled wheeled howitzer system.
  • GCT 155mm: A legacy self-propelled gun system.

Reconnaissance and Support Vehicles
  • Fennek: An armored 4x4 reconnaissance vehicle.
  • Dingo: A family of heavily armored, mine-protected infantry mobility vehicles (DINGO 1, 2, and 3 models).
  • Jaguar (EBRC): A 6x6 armored reconnaissance and combat vehicle for the French Army SCORPION program.
  • Mungo: An air-transportable, protected transport vehicle.
  • Aravis: A mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) vehicle.

And BAE gets you Bradley or CV90 or BvS10.

The Ukrainians seem to have found a role for a simple little tracked, armoured runabout.

Not for engaging the enemy but to move rapidly unnoticed .... according to the Spartsn link I posted.

Yes I keep forgetting them - probably intentionally ;). The KM merger with the French left me less excited for them.

AMPV is 38 tonnes.
AJAX is 38 to 42 tonnes (the original ASCOD which doesn't shake people to pieces is 26 tonnes)
CV90 is 38 tonnes although the original was 20 tonnes
Bradley now exceeds 33 tonnes but started out at 23 tonnes.

....

Spartan is about 11 tonnes
TRACKX is about 13 to 18 tonnes
BvS10 is 7 to 12 tonnes

.....

I have long been a fan of the Bv series and still am but I am thinking that for the Continental Division/Force there might be a home for the TRACKX.

Apparently ASCOD was not without problems itself
