Ok so why they do it in the first place. To try and save money, and to spend more money on equiptment. IT DID NEITHER

oh, so you are an expert now ?

Have you served a day in your so called " old military" ?

Have you served a day in the military we have now ?

answer to both is no.......

Now, go find your PS2 and go play pretend soldier........its what you are most suited for at the moment

I now believe what that guy said on how canada is the only country that celebrates its heritage by destroying it. I no who to blame to not going to say though so dont ask.

Please extrapolate this in regard to the intents and funding for defence of successive Canadian governments since 1967.  Please state your reasons for claiming that the organization and dress of the CF are the only relevant factors here.

WTF are you talking about, the old canadian military is the one who got us to this point. The CF is only known for peacekeeping. The canadian army, RCN,RCAF served in both world wars(RCAF not in first) and into the cold war, these new commands did shit all, no offence to the members of the forces but great offence to that prick trudeau.

Combat effectiveness is EVERYTHING..........

THANKYOU!!!!

Ontario...it may not be the topic but it is the entire reason for the forces to exist. You want to live in the past? Fine.

There are plenty of historical re-enactor groups out there that love to live in the "Glory days"....go and join one.

Pre-unification is gone for good and the CF is focused on dealing with the mission at hand and with ones in the near future.

The problems of past decisions are that they are in the past....time marches on and so do we.

I know my Regiment hold onto past traditions dearly, as do most. However we concentrate our efforts where they are needed most....the here and now.

I now believe what that guy said on how canada is the only country that celebrates its heritage by destroying it. I no who to blame to not going to say though so dont ask.

With that you are now on the ramp.....without a chute.

Regards

So you feel qualified to insult generations of Canadian service members who have done exactly what their Government has asked of them.  Your final qualification is worthless, and you has best back down, start reading, and open your mind to a better understanding of what the CF does.

Ontario, correct me if i'm wrong.  You have just finished reading a book about the Canadian military which questions past changes made in its structure, uniform etc...  You seem to have completely accepted what was written in the book. Now you are frustrated and want to vent.  I would suggest you get better informed about the subject before you start criticising everything.  Remember, the book you read was written by someone who has his own opinions, whether valid or not.  Read different opinions, do research and THEN make a more informed opinion.

Trudeau killed it because he believed in only taking UN missions, solely because he wanted the Nobel peace prize, Diefenbaker he didn't go through with the avro arrow, wouldn't arm the RCAF with nuclear weapons, didn't help in the Cuban missile crisis thank god for the commander of the RCN who sent ships. Mulroney someone who said he would rebuild the forces, completely lied, didn't even send a combat ground force to the gulf, who else is there, Cretian the one who finished us off cut budgets and sent us to Afghanistan, with raw uniforms and equipment, Harper the first prime minister in decades to attempt a rebuild of the forces is now backing out of Afghanistan because of domestic pressure. The only reason the public wants us out is because they don't understand the mission.

O'leary actually i didnt inmsult them if you can read i said no offence to the members but great offence to trudeau meaning i was insulting him.

And what responsibility do you lay at the feet of the Canadian public that elected each of these governments, or the Opposition parties that did not work harder to stop these changes?

How, exactly, is changing our uniforms going to undo all of this?

And yes, your words did offer insult to generations of soldiers, sailors and airmen who faithfully served their country to the best of their abilities in the face of changes that were not theirs to prevent or openly object to.

Ontario....do some reading. There is information on many of the topics you just went on about.

http://www.forces.gc.ca/site/home_e.asp

Unlike you there are many here, including myself, who were around during the Mulroney years and the first Gulf War. I know a few vets who would love to talk to you.

As for Jean Chretien and his ilk....his actions spoke for him and we're the PMO is cleaning up the mess. I think everyone here is in agreement on that one.

Know you subject and ask pertinent questions. Don't just read a book and take it as Gospel, as you've obviously done.

You've come here and pretty much insulted everyone in the forces since pre-unification to now and alienated them, whether that was your motive or not.

That's it....this is now locked. Usual caveats apply.
