HALIFAX -- An electrical transformer caught fire today on HMCS Fredericton while the Canadian frigate was in Bermuda.

Lieutenant Commander Denise Laviolette, a navy spokeswoman in Halifax, says the fire next to a wardroom was extinguished quickly and no one was injured.

She says it will not impact operations aboard the warship, which was due to return to sea on Wednesday.

The Halifax-based warship was docked in port when the fire occurred.

Laviolette says the cause will be investigated.
