Hello,

I've been thinking about joining then army reserves and I just wanted to know, from anyone's personal experiences, what the basic training is like before hand. Basically length of time, if the instructors are harsh like the regular forces or if it's more relaxed, etc. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

Have you searched the site for answers in the few minutes you've been registered? Or do you always want to be spoon fed answers?

There is a wealth of information on this site regarding your questions - take a few minutes to actually look for the answers, as they have been discussed at length several times.

Take a look in the "personal stories" section for some insight, as well as the "recruiting" section.  You'll find the information you are looking for there.

As a friendly suggestion - the army.ca community tends to look unfavourably on members who post the same questions and/or ask for the same details that people before you have already done - answering the same questions 30+ times tends to wear on the patience of the Moderators and long-time members.  Be proactive in your desire to find answers and if you are unable to find anything on your particular question, by all means ask!

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply, and not being  a douche about it. Unlike that other  guy.  Anyway, you're right I'll cruise the other posts, probably should of done that first. My bad. I tried doing some research on peoples experiences and testimonials but turned up none. I figured this would be a good place for info.

Sometime using Google to search the forum can be more efficient, try starting with this search (note the "site" parameter in the search string), for this search I also selected returns limited to the past year with the Search Tools option:

site:army.ca reserve basic training

If you haven't had any luck finding personal experiences on here, you haven't been looking particularly hard (in my opinion).  There is a fine line between having difficulty finding answers and being too lazy to look for them.  Using the Search function or looking at the list of forum threads alone would have put you in the right area.

Suggesting people are being "douches" isn't going to make you particularly well-liked.  Biting the hand while you expect to be fed from it is a pretty solid way to have yourself banned from the site.  I've explained the reasons why Kratz's response could be expected.  Take from that as you will.

Just to demonstrate I am the warm hug and slug type, willing to voluntarily spend my time re-answering questions that have been asked and answered ad nauseum:

Google search started 1911 (AST)

- Part-time BMQ
- Reserve BMQ Meford
- BMQ Army vs. BMQ Navy

After copy, pasting and formatting 1921 AST
* those 10 minutes for each and every time someone new joins and thinks their questions are new or special.

A douche would simply offer -300 MilPoints for you being lazy.
