Canadian soldier’s death probed at CFB Borden

5.56x45mm NATO casings and .223 Remington casings are visually identical save for the stamp on the base of the cartridge (thickness of the casing in the 5.56 is slightly thicker).

To summerize what you're saying, the young soldier who passed away in Borden on the rifle range did so by gunshots, and civilian .223 caliber casings were found on the scene, and not military issue 5.56mm casings?

Furthermore, a soldier was charged with some kind of weapon offences shortly after in which the ammo present was civilian .223 bullets, that were somehow related to the previous shooting death.

You think the soldier was murdered, or shot by accident/negligence, and the CFNIS didn't bother investigating the evidence connecting the shooting and the weapon charges.

You have no idea what the other soldier was charged with?
This poster has been active elsewhere trying to peddle a conspiracy theory on this. Basically alleging that there’s a coverup on what should be a murder investigation.

I've been trying to find the court records to respond but it's very hard to track down. There was a Pte at CFB Borden charged with weapon offenses soon after Pte Fletcher's death (Ammo 223 and an AR-15) which was linked to this case but the NIS did not investigate it much.
If the charges were laid by the military for trial within the military justice system, it would show on the site linked below.

You'd have to search by year, then by last name (if you have it). They'll only show up in the linked site if tried within the military. There are four individuals within that site who've been subject to Courts Martial for weapons offences since the date of Pte Fletcher's death. If the individual is one of them, scroll down to see the specific charges laid, and the results for each charge. If the Courts Martial transcript is already available it will also be to the bottom of the page.

And now seeing by the Reddit post that you are not alledging that this was done by a member of the CAF, but was done by a civilian. That would be handled by civilian authorities (if true).

Okee-dokee.

Those are quite the allegations.
Indeed! It's hard to determine from that single post if a non-CAF member was involved or just non-service ammunition.

Having myself been fired upon, in Canada, by an inebriated hunter during a patrolling exercise on civilian land many years ago, I see that as a possible explanation. This is said to have occurred in September 2024. There were still a number of .223 cal rifles useable for hunting that had not yet been banned.
