Hello, I have a few questions to do with casual full-time employment with the Canadian Armed Forces.
First, what does casual full-time actually mean? Is a casual full-time member more like a Regular Force member or a Primary Reserve member?
Are these types of positions with the CF available at most units? (I live in Calgary.)

Thank you for your time.

Hello Eric-182,

Casual full-time employment is full-time employment for members in the Primary Reserve. The Forces refer to these full-time opportunities as class B positions. Essentially, a part-time reserve member of the Forces can apply to these positions. Some Primary Reserve units will offer full-time employment for exercises, courses, as well as unit staff positions. Full-time employment varies in length, from several days, up to three years. Members in these class B positions do not earn the same benefits and salary as Regular Force members. Casual full-time employment positions are based on rank, occupation and geographic location.

Do not plan your entire life around the possibility of snagging a Class B contract.

Going along with this. Let say as a Army reservist, how are the shifts assigned? Let say for one particular calendar month, you are available for the entire month. How many shifts would you get? Cheers!

Every unit has a parade night, like ours is every Tuesday night from 7pm-10pm (Sep-May) And usually you have around 4 exercises per year (4 weekends). Then you have different days that vary from unit to unit, person to person, like courses, events, etc.
