I have a question regarding the change of RSM stick handover. The ceremonies I attended the regimental stick was handed from the retiring CWO to the new RSM. Photos from a recent change of RSM ceremony show the CO taken the regimental stick from the old RSM and giving it to the new RSM. Has the protocol change or are there no protocol?

It will definitely follow regimental quiffs. And command team quiffs.

In the same unit I have seen RSM to RSM, RSM to CO to RSM, RSM to CO to Honorary Colonel who then delivers a meandering 25 minute speech to RSM...

I have always seen the CO or HCOL take the stick from outgoing and hand it to incoming. Not sure if its huge deal, and regimental traditions may come into play.
