Changes to Recruitment Medical 2024

Is there any information available as to what has been changed, if anything, when it comes to history of depression/anxiety diagnosis/medications? Are any changes made in regards to these diagnoses/medications only applicable to those who are actively taking these medications?

The article linked states that applicants may be accepted if they are currently taking medications for anxiety/depression. This makes me think that a history of taking these medications should be much less of an issue if this is the case.

I’m in the recruiting process currently, expecting to schedule a date for my medical soon.

I applied 5 years ago and received a medical rejection due to a history of use of SSRI medication to treat depression(5+ years with no meds at the time). I appealed and was rejected again. I believe this appeal likely would have been successful, but my doctor was unwilling to write “‘low’ risk of recurrence” and instead wrote ‘unknown’.

I am seeing my doctor soon and am certain that she will be willing to state that I am low risk at this point, another 5 years later. I am planning to bring a letter from her to my medical if she is willing to provide one.

If some applicants that are currently taking these medications will be accepted, how could a history of taking these medications, and then many years without them not be a much safer bet?

I understand that every applicant is treated on a case-by-case basis. I’m just looking for any insight as to what has changed. If there is any publicly available information, of course.

If you can breath and be able to play with your own johnson in the dark, you are fine. At least that is how it was put to me.
