According to section 34(1) of the Veterans Review and Appeal Board Act,  “A person who has been refused an award under the Pension Act, or a disability award, a death benefit, a clothing allowance or a detention benefit under Part 3 of the Canadian Forces Members and Veterans Re-establishment and Compensation Act, and who has exhausted all procedures for review and appeal under this Act may apply to the Board for a compassionate award.”

For more information on compassionate awards, please contact your representative. He or she is in the best position to counsel you on making applications to the Board.

This is interesting. They never tell you about it!
Thanks for this info.

Has anyone done it?

Cheers
