ABOUT THE CONFERENCE: SECURING CANADA’S ENERGY FUTURE

This spring, The Atlantic Council of Canada would like to welcome you to join us for our Energy Security Month. The Atlantic Council of Canada (ACC) hopes to promote an understanding of Canadian energy by way of hosting a conference: Securing Canada’s Energy Future, followed by a series of round table discussions.
Over the past decade, the Canadian energy sector has grown to occupy a substantial portion of our nation’s socioeconomic conversation. Given the geopolitical climate in the Middle East coupled with a recessive global economy, the impetus to look within and establish a more robust and unified national energy framework has never been greater.
The Atlantic Council of Canada will be bringing together policy leaders, industry stakeholders, academics, and military personnel to discuss and debate this topic of national significance. By promoting discourse and dialogue, the Atlantic Council of Canada hopes to raise awareness for energy security on the public agenda.
Topics to be addressed:
Beyond Kyoto: Reconciling environmental stewardship with economic demands of the Canadian economy and the energy sector.
Boons and barriers to Canadian laws and regulations on energy regulation, environmental assessment, and environmental protection.
Energy and the Canadian Arctic.
Sustainable development in the Canadian energy sector – meeting our economic goals.
North American Integration in the Energy Marketplace/International Energy Trade.
The Canadian Force’s role in securing Canadian Energy Infrastructure.
East/West and North/South Energy infrastructure development.
Canadian-American relations on energy development.
