Could someone provde a list, or a websire, that explains the course abbreviations of the courses in hte military. I‘ve been in for just over a year, and have most of the slang and abbreviations in the military fighured out, but the course ones throw me for a loop. Thanks.

BMQ = Basic Military Qualification
SQ = Standard Qualification (?)
MOC = Military Occupaction Code (?)
PLQ = Primary Leadership Qualification

I could be wrong on a couple of these as the coarse names seem to change on a weekly basis.

Thanks for all the info. Just one more question, what does "ISCC" stand for?

ISCC is the old terminology for the junior leader course (JLC, PLQ)

P.S.
SQ - soldier qualification

ISCC= infantry section commanders course. It isn‘t used any more, but it was in reference to the leadership course for infantry only. Since their JLC/JNCO was 3 weeks (?) longer than the "other arms" one, they had a separate acronym for it. Now the whole thing is PLQ, and the infantry now have to do a separate QL6a (or whatever it‘s being called now).

SQ = Soldier Qualification.

MOC is correct; it is used with reference to the initial MOC training course (ex-QL3).

I‘m not sure if PCF (Primary Combat Function) is still used as a generic catch-all for QL4.

ISCC = Infantry Section Commander‘s Course.
